Guest Room: Before and After

Today is our son’s 2nd birthday!  I can’t believe how quickly time has flown!  We are celebrating with a big family party on Saturday and my parents are driving in from Missouri to stay with us for the weekend.  That was motivation for us to prioritize getting our guest room finished next.

Here is what the room looked like before we moved in:

The walls were white and there was pink carpet.  Though you could pack more guests in with a double bunk bed, we opted to stick with a traditional bed…

Here’s what it looks like now:

We put up new curtain rods and had the walls painted a light grey (though it is hard to tell in this picture).  I originally chose that color thinking we’d paint all the trim white, but that project has been put on the back burner for now.  I hope we can still do it eventually, though, as I think the grey will pop out more against the white.

Almost all the decor is stuff we had from before with the exception of the grey pillow (to tie in the grey) and the rugs on the floor (my favorite part of the whole room) which were all amazingly cheap finds at Target!  That is also why there is only one window panel on each window, because I was too cheap to buy more curtains when I already had some that matched!  :)

What do you think?
